Just like the previous versions of Windows, Windows 10 also has an inbuilt calculator application including some other default apps. This calculator is quite handy and able to perform different tasks (such as Scientific and Programming calculation along with several unit conversions ) apart from standard calculation. But unfortunately, many users are reporting that they are facing certain issues with windows 10 calculator. And you will be surprised to know that the issue with windows 10 calculator is being one of the most common issues getting reported from users.
We all have definitely used windows calculator for being a very simple application that allows performing several quick calculations. So it’s quite disturbing to see the calculator application isn’t opening or getting crashed for some users.
Behind this not working issue of windows 10 calculator there could be several reasons. If your calculator application isn’t up to date, or it holds missing or error-laden Registry and System files, it might cause your calculator having the not working issue.

How to Fix Windows 10 Calculator Not Working

As I have already told you that behind this windows 10 calculator not working issue, there is not any specific reason. So there is not any specific solution for it. If you’re facing the same problems with Calculator on Windows 10 here are few solutions that might help you. Here in this article, I will mention some different ways to fix this error; among which some worked for many users and some worked for a few users.

Update Calculator

In terms of fixing this calculator not working issue in windows 10, you can simply check for an update of your calculator application in windows store, if the previous method has failed to solve your issue. If you find any update for your app, then update it. It might fix your issue with your calculator.

Reset Calculator

If you found your Windows 10 calculator not working, the first thing what you can do is resetting the application. This process worked as a solution for many users. It is a very simple process and hardly takes a long time.

To reset your calculator in Windows 10 simply open your All Settings> click on ‘Apps’> click on ‘Calculator’ option> open ‘Advanced Options’> click on ‘Reset’ button.
You will get a confirmation popup after clicking on that reset button. Simply click on Reset again.
Check your calculator after this resetting process. Your issue should get solved now. If not, then go for the next one.

Reinstall Calculator

If those two methods mentioned above fail to fix calculator not working problem in windows 10 then I will recommend you to reinstall your calculator. Though this way is not a conventional one. But like other built-in Microsoft apps Calculator doesn’t have a uninstall option. Windows PowerShell will help you to perform this uninstallation process. Simply go the Windows PowerShell through the start button> click on Run as Administrator> enter the command Get-AppxPackage *windowscalculator* | Remove-AppxPackage (Running the command will uninstall your calculator application) > install your calculator application again using the command given Get-AppxPackage-AllUsers|Foreach{Add-AppxPackage-DisableDevelopmentMode-Register“$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}> Press Enter. This will reinstall your application solving your issue.

Create a New User Account

If the third process I mentioned above doesn’t work, then go for this which I am mentioning now. You can try to solve your issue by creating another user account through the following steps.
Type add a user by clicking on the start menu search bar> click on the Add, edit, or remove other people option> click on the Add someone else to this PC option on the new window titled under Family & other people> click on the I don’t have this person’s sign-in

Information option from the next window>+6+ > Here you can add new username and password along with a password hint> Click on the next Button.
So your new account has been created. Log in simply. you can do so easily by clicking on this very button in the Start menu, then by selecting the new user ID. Once you are logged in with your new ID, try to access the Calculator and see if you are still unable to open Calculator in Windows 10. If so, try running the scans that are mentioned below.

Run SFC Scan to fix Windows 10 not working issue

If all of the above get failed to fix your issue with windows 10 calculator, you should try the method I am going to mention. It may possible that you are facing this calculator not working issue for some error with the system files. In this case, you can run an SFC scan to search a corrupted file and when it found, it will fix the error for you. You can run a SFC scan through the method mentioned below.

Press Win+X> select the Command Prompt (Admin)> Type sfc /scannow> Press Enter.

It will make a start to your SFC scan process. It may take some time to complete. After the completion, you have to restart your computer. After restarting your PC try to run the calculator app.

If the SFC scan fails to fix your issue with a calculator you can go for DISM scan through the process I am going to mention below.

Open Command Prompt> type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth> Press Enter> This scan may take some time to complete. Don’t interrupt the process during scan.
After completing this DISM scan simply run another SFC scan through the method I have already told you. Let the scan complete. Restart your PC and try run your calculator.

Update Operating System

One of the prime reasons behind this Windows 10 calculator not working issue is your system is not up to date. So try to keep your system updated always to make your applications work properly.
